Cannot browse the Internet? - use the following suggestion below in the order given
- Verify that your DSL/cable modem is working correctly, plugged in and light on.
- Unplug or turn off your DSL/cable modem, restart after 1 minute.
- Verify that LAN1 and LAN2 are plugged in correctly
- Verify that you have an IP address (Default Range: 10.0.0.0/24) and that Sentry is doing DHCP, or is it being provided by another service?
- If you have a valid IP address but it is being provide by another source you may need to change the gateway to point up stream to the Sentry.
- Is your DSL modem set as a bridge
- Is the Sentry behind another firewall, you may need to reconfigure the other firewall
If you can ping to an outside IP address (example: 66.228.204.8), but not a web address(example: www.wiresoft.net) and or cannot surf the Internet
- Verify your DNS settings.
Are your DNS settings correct?
You must tell your computer which DNS to use for all your Internet browsing. You may use the internal IP address of the Sentry or set this to "automatic"
and the DNS is provided by the Sentry. If you have incorrectly configured the Sentry DNS settings log into the web interface and restart the basic setup. You will need to know the IP address of the DNS to use - if you don't know this you'll need to ask your system administrator or ISP
- Are you getting the web proxy notice?
Is the Sentry in web proxy?
Verify your proxy settings the usual settings are port 3128, but you may need to call your network administrator to confirm your proxy settings.
The page never seems to or is very slow to load?
Verify that [ad blocking] is turned on/off.. See the Reference Guide for details.
[ad blocking] feature is located in the web interface under
anti-virus > web > scroll to bottom > bypass list > select enabled/disabled
I cannot log into the web interface?
- If you have an older version of Sentry you may need to disable pop up blockers.
- Verify that your network administrator has not reset your password.
- If you have to restart your Senty, plug a keyboard in the back and use the ctrl+ alt + del keys to restart, NEVER PUSH THE BUTTON TO RESTART THE SENTRY.
